Rules
LIBRARY RULES
The Library is a place of learning. Students are welcome to spend their time in the library doing useful work such as reviewing journals reference books and preparing for seminars, exams etc. In order to effectively cater to the staff and student community the following rules and regulations have been formulated.
General Rules
- Every person who enters the library shall sign the register in token of his/ her acceptance to adhere to the rules of the library.
2. The College library will be kept open from 8.00 a. m. to 11.00 p.m. on all working days.
- Students will be required to produce their identity card when the books and other reading materials are issued to them.
4. Personal belongings and books already borrowed from the library are strictly prohibited inside the library. These shall be deposited at the property counter.
5. The reader shall maintain silence within the library premises. Group discussion, conversations etc. are prohibited.
6. Students are not allowed to take food items inside the library and are not to be found sleeping.
7. Students found guilty of library rules will be suspended from the usage.
8. Application for books should be made in the prescribed borrower’s call slip. The books for home reading will be issued from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
- Users are requested to switch off their mobiles inside the library.
- Using computers for emails, Chatting is prohibited.
- Students utilizing the lockers outside should deposit a key to the Librarian. In the event the student fails to deposit the key, the Library staff have the authority to break the lockers.
The Library has the following sections:
A. LENDING SECTION:
1. The books for home reading will be issued from 9:00 A.M to 5:00 P.M on all working days.
2. 4 (Four) borrowers cards will be issued to each student in the beginning of the year and is valid up to one year. At the end of the each year, the cards should be returned to the Librarian without fail. Only one book will be issued against each library card.
3. Borrower’s cards are not transferrable and the loss of it should be reported to the Librarian. Duplicate will be issued on payment of Rs. 10/-
4. Issued books may be kept 14 days after which the borrower has to return the same. A fine of Re1/- per day per book will be charged till the book is returned.
5. The Student to whom the book has been issued will be held responsible for its safe return. The borrower is expected to examine the book at the time of borrowing and bring to the attention of the Librarian about the damages found. Mutilation and disfiguring of pages by ink or pencil is strictly prohibited.
6. Incase any book is lost, damaged or in an unacceptable condition while returning, the borrower shall replace the latest edition of the book or shall pay double the price of the book. If a book is one of the volumes of a set, the reader may be asked to replace the whole set.
7. The books may be renewed for once if the same are not reserved by the other readers. The renewal will be done on the physical presentation of the books.
8. The Librarian may recall any book from any member at any time if the book is on demand by the other clienteles
B) REFERENCE SECTION
1. Reference Section is a meant for individual study.
2. Reference Books/ Periodicals/Rare Books/ News paper will not be issued out and are to be referred inside the Library. However, students can get these issued against their identity card for Photocopy (Xerox).
3. Deposit your identity card on the reference staff table and enter your name in the entrance register.
4. Note books, Text books are not allowed in the reference section. Only papers can be taken into the reference section.
5. Student can refer only 2 books at a time.
6. Please don’t misplace the books on the shelves. After reading, books should be returned to the reference staff, in the reference section.
7. Strict silence must be observed in the library and reference section.
8. Students will be required to produce their identity card when the books and other reading materials are issued to them.
9. Movement of furniture, bringing food items of any kind is strictly prohibited in the library.
